ABOUT JANELL
Janell’s passion for life was apparent at a very early age. She was loving, strong willed, compassionate and always put others before herself. She left a lasting impression on those who met her once or knew her for a lifetime. Her infectious laughter and smile lit up a room no matter where she was. Not only did she have the brightest smile in the room, her fashion sense turned heads no matter where she went. Her love for every person she encountered was something that remained with people no matter who they were.
Janell’s life was filled with love and family from the very beginning. She made the most of her time with the ones she loved - always. At the forefront were her loving parents as well as her Oma and Opa (her grandparents). Her love of animals came from her Oma, who raised canaries, finches and turtles. Janell always enjoyed supplying “sugar water” feeders for nearby hummingbirds. Janell’s uplifting and positive attitude was shaped by her family. From the home cooked meatballs and hagelslag sandwiches, her Dutch heritage was never far from her heart. Amongst many other things taught to her by her family, she learned not to take life for granted when her Oma and Opa passed away.
Rancho Cucamonga is where Janell attended preschool through high school and is also where she made lifelong friendships. Participating in basketball in her younger years and eventually becoming an outstanding volleyball player. In her early twenties she met the love of her life Fernando Figueroa. Not only were the two inseparable but never looked back as their relationship blossomed. She would soon meet Fernando’s 4 year old daughter Kylie and they instantaneously bonded. Through arts and crafts, baking and spending hours upon hours of time together is where Kylie attained her love for the simpler things. When Kylie was 7, Janell encouraged Kylie to join waterpolo and to always follow her dreams. Janell never hesitated to embrace Kylie as her own and encouraged her to be self assured and independent. Her positive influence was undoubtedly seen through Kylie and formed much of how The Figueroa Family has lived their lives to this very day. In 2014 Janell and Fernando co-founded their own successful business which allowed them the freedom to spend as much time needed attending Kylie’s waterpolo functions throughout the years.
The Figueroa’s adventures were abundant and filled with love. From Harley Davidson rides, building a chicken coop from scratch (featured in the local newspaper) and many days spent crafting, going to the beach, barbequing, and tie-dye parties. Most summers were spent going on family vacations to some of their favorite spots: Laughlin Nevada, Mammoth Mountain, Las Vegas and visiting family in Carlsbad California. Janell’s fur babies Harley, Chanel and Mercedes took part in many of these vacations. Fernando and Janell became members of the Havanese Club of Southern California where they both held board member positions. Janell took special pride in her family holidays; Christmas (her all-time favorite), Easter, and Thanksgiving. Anytime she could have her entire family together was a reason to celebrate.
Janell thoroughly loved and enjoyed life up until her untimely death on January 6th, 2022. She never wasted a day dwelling on the negative and lived each day to it’s full potential. We continue to strive and be the type of person that Janell was, always looking for the best in each person that she met along the way. Helping those in need and living each day like it is your last. We continue to honor Janell’s legacy of kindness, thoughtfulness and the pride that she took in helping others embrace life each and everyday.
MEMORIES
January 6 2023,
Today is the 1st year anniversary of the day we lost you, and for a time it felt as if our lives had ended too. Your loss has taught us so much, in which we now face each day with hope and happy memories to help us along the way. Although we are full of sadness that you are no longer here with us, your influence guides us and we still feel you near. The memories and love we shared will never die, instead they will live in all of our hearts, bringing us strength and comfort while we are apart. We all love and miss you Janell.
